Traveling care tips for your String Bikini

Swimsuits are the number one summer must have, but in order to keep yours looking great for more than one season, you must take good care of it. The weather, salt water, sand, chlorine, and even your favorite tanning oil will damage your string bikini. By taking the right steps, you can protect your little black bikini from becoming a fashion faux pas.

After a sun filled day at the beach, upon returning home the first thing you should do is strip off that soggy bikini bottom and toss it in the sink. Sweat and body oils slowly break down the elasticity of the fibers in your bikini, thus making it stretched out. Almost all swimwear contains spandex or lycra, so rinsing is necessary. Rinse your tiny bikini in cold water. If you have a little extra time, you should soak your swimsuit in the cold water for approximately 30 minutes. This will allow all of the salt, chlorine, sweat, or tanning oils to seep out of the swimwear.

Never wash your string bikini in the washing machine. This will only further destroy your perfect summer suit. Washing Machines are known for being rough, and wrapping the strings of your suit around something else and pulling and stretching until it has successfully ripped the tiny bikini apart. Also, some would recommend to use detergent while hand washing your swimsuit. Detergent only further destroys the fabrics of your swimwear. It will fade the color and hurt the elasticity. If something as natural as sweat can do that, imagine what a mad made detergent can do!

Once your tiny bikini is suffeciently rinsed, it’s time to dry. Gently squeeze the swimwear to release as much water as possible. Do not wring the suit, as that may stretch the fabric. Some people would recommend laying the bikini flat to dry. We at Bikini Luxe do not recommend that, as mildew will deteriate swimwear which contains lycra spandex. Nobody wants their perfect little summer bikini to smell like mildew when they go to put it back on either. Gross! You should hang your swimwear to dry, preferabbly out of direct sunlight. UV rays from the sunshine can fade the colors of your fabric.

A few tips for the next time you venture out in your favorite little string bikini. Pay attention to where you are sitting. Some surfaces are rough, especially around pools to keep people from slipping. These rough surfaces damage and pull on the fabric of your bikini bottom. Nobody wants to walk around in a swimsuit with a furry butt. Also, hot tubs are known to have excessive levels of chlorine and heat. Both heat and chlorine destroy the quality of your swimwear. You might step in with a perfecly form fitting bikini bottom, and step out with what looks to be a diaper on!

If you follow these easy steps to care for your Bikini Luxe String Bikini, you should be able to wear it for seasons to come! Just remember to rinse and hang dry!
