About Encuentros Andinos:

Encuentros Andinos is a non-conventional, non-traditional tour company designed to take you directly into the hidden parts of Cusco that are often denied to foreigners. Our unique adventures emphasize personal interaction with locals and the participation in traditional customs and handiwork. We break the barrier between foreigner and native, showcasing indigenous life up close, changing your perception of the Andes Mountains forever.

Cancha Cancha Mountain Trek and Indigenous Homestay

Enjoy an invigorating hike up the lush mountainside to a small, isolated community called “Cancha Cancha.” Upon arrival, you’re invited into the home of an indigenous family to eat and have some tea before participating in demonstrations of different aspects of local living, including Alpaca care, textiles and weaving, and agriculture. You have the option of spending the late afternoon on horeback for a sunset tour of all of Cancha Cancha, including visiting a small, hidden lake that only locals know about. This trek includes an optional homestay for the evening, where you can be lodged inside the home of one of our native contacts, best showcasing the life of an Andes Mountains native. There’s no other experience quite like it, and we’re proud to offer such an exclusively unique experience to our guests. In the morning we breakfast and head back down to the terminal in Calca, where we will direct you to your next destination.

Additional Important Information. Please Read:

Creating a Custom Trek
Our treks can be combined any way you like, creating a more custom experience that may better suit your time. We can also add additional activities that may interest you more. Just ask us if you’d like to see some more custom options that are available. You can make any general inquiries by filling out the form on our contact us page.

“Open” and “Closed” Trek Options
All treks are considered “open” unless an additional fee is paid to keep the trek “closed.” A “closed” trek means that you will be given a completely private trek experience for you and anyone else that you are traveling with. In order to keep the trek “closed,” each party member must pay the additional fee, which is further described on our pricing page. We recommend closing treks especially if you prefer privacy, would like a more exclusive experience, if you’re traveling with children, or if you are celebrating a special occasion.

Tent Accomodations
Treks include a tent that can comfortably fit two adults. If you are traveling with a partner or a friend, you will be placed together in a single tent. If you are traveling alone or with an odd numbered group of people, and there are other guests participating in the trek with you that you do not know, it is possible that you may be placed with someone you do not know in a single tent. If you wish to purchase your own private tent, you can do so for an additional fee, which can be found on our pricing page. Tents are equipped with camping mats only. You can purchase the use of a sleeping bag or air mattress for an additional fee, which is described on our pricing page. In order to purchase the use of an air mattress for a tent that will house two people, both parties must pay the additional fee.

Dietary Restrictions and Special Occasions
Our meals include meat and dairy, but we have vegetarian and vegan friendly meals available, as well. Please let us know of any dietary restrictions at the time of registration. If you are in Cusco in order to celebrate a special ocassion, we are more than happy to include beer, wine, or champagne in your tent for you. Please inquire on our contact us page.
